19. Tor Lucas

Born in Chellaston and schooled at Ockbrook from 3 and a half to 18 years followed by Accountancy at Derby University. Tor travelled to Australia with boyfriend Ian and on returning home worked at BMI as a fill in whilst waiting to return to University. That didn’t happen and Tor stayed at BMI for ten years.

Married to Ian, Liv then Joe were born. Joe was just 15 weeks old when Tor’s brother Robin died, a huge loss not just to the extended Lucas, Clayborn and Crocker families but to all who knew him especially the Melbourne Rugby Club family. Choosing redundancy and two years at home Tor joined Crockers in 2008 to take over from Richard when he retired.

In support of Ian since 1993 Tor has performed the following roles for MRFC:-
1st Aid when a sponge and water was all that was required to get a player on his feet. Although Tor drew the line when Kier proclaimed “I’ve been kicked in the nuts”.

Tor also remembers Robin taking a knee in a Cup game and a worried sister was mightily relieved when he whispered “Just put some strapping on my thumb. I’m fine, I just need a breather”.

A stalwart on the Social Committee during the late 90s – organising Club Dinners, Balls and other fund-raising events, and later taking on the role of Membership Secretary.

These days Tor can be seen on the touchline watching son Joe playing as he begins his transition from the Academy to the senior sides.
