U14's battle to narrow win

Well, that certainly blew the Xmas cobwebs away!

Melbourne U14's welcomed Dinnington RFC for their first fixture together. Having 22 players to choose from provided a novel challenge to the coaching staff and provided welcome competition for places. From the off, it was obvious that both sides were well matched, and the boys weren't backwards in coming forwards! Scores were happening at both ends as the game stayed tight, with nothing between the teams. Passions however boiled over later in the second half; which whilst not condoned, showed the enthusiasm and commitment from the 30 adolescents on the pitch. Lessons learnt, and the game continued with mutual respect until the final whistle, with Melbourne edging it at the end.

Looking forward to the return fixture in 5 weeks time between two evenly matched sides!
