Melbourne U14's Greens 70 v Southwell U14's 14

The U14's Greens welcomed Southwell to the Wet Wet Wet conditions of Cockshut Lane on Sunday Morning. Showing that Love is All around we lent Southwell 3 players to make sure both sides started with 15 players and the message was clear - the team that won the battle on the floor would win the game.
Melbourne kicked off and the Flood Gates opened in Melbourne's defense as we allowed their quick backs to run straight through to score under the posts and an easy conversion - 0:7.
Showing that We can get by with a Little Help from our Friends it was no Sweet Little Mystery that with good close support and soft hands across the backline that Melbourne leveled the score following blistering pace up the wing by Jenko to score under the posts and converted by Pearchy.
The forwards were really starting to get a grip of the game with some excellent work at the breakdown from Big Olly, Mad Max and The Italian and with ball in hand the interplay between the Back Row of Taylor Swift, Joe C(R)ocker and Jon Bon-Jovi really started to make in roads and testing the Southwell defense.
Further scores started to come in the first half with Jenko grabbing his second and Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi going over the whitewash to keep the score ticking over and Pearchy showing he is as skillful kicking the ball along the floor in a kick and chase to score under the posts.
Taylor Swift, Joe C(R)ocker and The Italian started the 2nd half for Southwell and Wishing I was Lucky the Melbourne team put together some of their best rugby of the morning with great support and continuity in ever worsening conditions.
Running out of Wet Wet Wet songs now I'll Sweet Surrender while I'm ahead - Scores "rained" in during the 2nd half from The Mighty Quinn, Jon Bon Jovi and Pearchy dropped over for his second try to add to his extra points tally.
Southwell scored again through Taylor Swift following a pick and go from a scrum and taught the boys that they need to be awake at all times.
A final swap of players allowed Samwise Seckhon, Big Olly and Mad Max to put on The Purple Rain Jersey of Southwell to play out the final 10 minutes.
The last 10 minutes saw some great runs from Happy Feet Seb and Harrison "I am a Forward" Jones along with some great scummaging all morning from the front five, Taylor Swift completed his hat-trick .
Thank you to Southwell for travelling over to play in such horrible weather, the conditions didn't suit the Nottingham-shire side who certainly had the pace and skill to test Melbourne and on a drier day it would have been interesting to see both sides battle against each other.
It was always going to be a forward up for the Man of the Match award today and actually Two players stood out above the rest for their relentless work rate all morning - Big Olly and Jon Bon Jovi - Well Done to you two and also to all the other boys from both teams who played so well in the wet conditions.
Thank you also to all the Parents, Grandparents and Girlfriends (that's a new one this year!!!) for supporting on the side lines under your Umbrella Ella Ella.....
