Another competitive game between the 2 sides ended in farcical scenes yesterday with confusion of he score at the final whistle.
The VEO will have to be watched in it's entireity to determine the correct score. This will then be submitted to the league secretary for ratification and if Melbourne are wrong, hopefully there will be a correction of the score on the RFU leagues.
Radio Melbourne aka Jules Raine and another un-collobarated Melbourne statto had the score at 17-16 to Melbourne, but the referee had different. The Melbourne players and supporters believed the game was won. Some of the Tamworth supporters believed the game was lost with Tamworth kicking to touch whilst losing bringing disbelief.
All in all very disappointing.
The whistle happy referee was the star of the show. Unable to control the game with in excess of 30 penalties, saw both sides become frustrated, with multiple issues in the final 10 minutes. The final whistle also resulted in some scenes after the game with everyone unsure of the result from players to supporters.
To top it all for Melbourne, a red card was brandished after the game to a Melbourne player after an overheard comment, all potentially avoidable. A real example of 'cause and effect'.
