The U13 Minxes joined forces with Matlock this afternoon for a joint training session.
In view of Matlock's limited player availability, Melbourne's Minxes offered to come and mix all the girls up to play some fun, conditioned games.
Minxes coach James ran the session which saw lots of focus on rucking; ensuring the girls got into low, strong body positions to secure and win the ball. The Minxes responded to last week's challenge to distribute the ball, moving it wide into space and not charge through the middle of the field back into pressure, and it was pleasing to see the girls both achieving this and making great covering tackles when defending against it. Lots of fun was had by all culminating in a mud slide competition for Jelly Babies at the end - much to the horror of any watching parents with light-coloured car interiors!
Many thanks to Matlock for the wet weather, mud, welcome warm showers and tasty pies'n'gravy, and a big thanks to the volunteer referee.
