Minxes U13 met with strong opposition

A sunny afternoon at the MSP enabled the U13's to play side by side with their younger U11 minxes who were having their Pitch up and Play Cluster. U13 Minxes were hosting Tamworth a new encounter as we didn't play these last season.

Down on numbers due to half term and other family commitments the minxes started the game playing 10 aside. The minxes seemed half asleep to start with as they had forgotten how to ruck and counter ruck and whilst Tamworth were attacking hard and fast, opportunities were there but not taken as we stood and let Tamworth counter ruck to win ball and score several tries in quick succession during the first half.

A shell shocked Melbourne had a chat with coach James and he reminded the team of all the work recently done in training rucking and counter rucking and that he knew they had it in them to turn the ball over. However, by now Tamworth could see the damage they were doing and piled the pressure on the attack and the defence and scored just as many tries in the second period.

Today was not Melbourne's day and the only saving grace was a well worked try where the ball went through the hands of Olivia, Amy, Delia before Alicia crashed over in the corner to huge cheers from Melbourne supporters.

Onwards and upwards girls, we know you deserved better than your one try just from the sheer work and effort you all put in.
