Minxes Travel to Mansfield with New Coaching Support

Planning the Minxes from ground-up from mid-July was a big ask. But thanks to a combined effort all-round from current MRFC chairs, coaches, administrators and parents, the Minxes were fully set up and going by Registration Day.

Since then, participation in NLDs has been consistent as we rebuild the U13s team, and the U11s have had a great deal of competitive games - given the paucity of other girls-only sides out there at that age group. We are integrating the Minxes more tightly into the rhythms of the overall club. The U11s mix in with the boys at minis training as well, and the U13s train Wednesday nights alongside the U14s boys training. Minxes parents have dug in, and led by Jo West, arranged a fantastic Halloween Night back in early November - attended by both Minxes and boys from Minis sides. And, now we are sending some Minxes out with Santa's Sleigh on Dec 13th - the Minxes get to mingle with the 1st VX lads.

But, back to the match - we travelled to Mansfield on Sunday (both U13s and U11s sides). About four Long Eaton and West Bridgford players joined with our U13s to help us to full team numbers (three of our big-hitting hard-running Minxes were doing Panto). The combined team worked well and won all three games against the amply-supplied Mansfield club and another combination that was mostly made up of Castle Donington Diamonds players.

The effort going in to establish the new Minxes set up is fantastic. A big thanks to Tessa (U11s) and James (U13s) who recently joined us and who are making a big difference, adding to the current coaching input from Julia, Bex, Mickael and John.
