3 is the magic number for the U13s Minxes

Match 1. Melbourne 3 - Barbarians 0.
A Baabaa side made up of Long Eaton, Chesterfield and Ashfield girls were no match for the Minxes who ran in 3 unanswered tries with some great play from the girls with a great deal of success for the ball carriers through the centre of the pitch with tries from Izzy Boyer (2) and Charlotte Easton. Thus making for a short match report.

Match 2. Melbourne 4 - Newark 1.
As the temperature dropped the second game saw Melbourne face an excellent, well organised Newark side who in the past have proved too much of an obstacle for the Minxes. This was most definitely not the case this afternoon as the Minxes soaked up some early pressure and defended like lionesses with tackles from all across the defensive line, most noticeably from the Cotton sisters, Hannah and Esther. After a break away try from Charlotte was cancelled out quickly by Newark the Minxes began to dominate the game with the pressure beginning to tell and causing mistakes in the Newark ranks which were exploited with tries from Skye Sloman(2), Charlotte and Izzy. It was no more than the girls deserved and one of the best Minxes performances of recent seasons.

Match 3. Mansfield 3 - Melbourne 5.
Another physical challenge was met with the Minxes showing great resilience in now near freezing conditions. Melbourne faced some fearsome ball carriers with more big tackles put in and an excellently marshalled defensive effort from the entire team. As in the second game the Minxes showed something special in soaking up sustained pressure and then began to dominate possession themselves, turning it into tries with Charlotte (2), Lydia Wilkinson, Skye and Leah Mitchell all on the score sheet. The Minxes again showed just how far they have come in a short space of time against tuff opposition who were eventually well beaten by this ever improving side.
