A morning of confusion between clubs equal a great game against Barker Butts

With every effort being made to offer our girls the chance to face new and different sides on Sundays filled with more than one visiting club ended up seeing all bar one pull out. However with a later than hoped start Barker Butts more than adequately kept our girls interested and engaged for the whole match.

Both sides showed great rugby with our girls tacking yet another step up in ability from last season, especially the current year 7s who last year took a steep learning curve against some larger than life year 9s. It was great to see the girls working hard as a single unit, Sophie Attisha looks like she has been playing with her new team mates for years. Just shows what can happen when two clubs and two sets of coaches can achieve with a cluster. The Cotton sisters, Hannah and Esther have come from a different club to be a part of the Minxes and they have brought some real aggression and determination, may be down to some sibling rivalry but the rest of the team are benefiting from it too.

Lauren Rickett showed her mazy running skills causing a few issues for Barker but only after some great break throughs from the likes of Izzy "Lilly" Boyer, Skye "Smash Sister No1" Sloman and Shani Macarthur. Ellie-May Woodland and Amy Newman showed their desire to get involved and maybe due to the fact that Ella Abraham has taken the lead on showing what last year 6s can do in this age group. Chuck in a flash or two of an increased confidence from Abi Taylor and the girls looked very comfortable going toe to toe with a physically strong side like Barker Butts.

From the sideline it seemed an exciting game, too exciting for some parents and family members who could be seen hiding behind their own hands. Leah Mitchell was again on hand to do what she does best and ran some aggressive and probing runs and with the well timed and well thought out support runs from Charlotte Easton she was able to show off her offloading skills too.

We didn't take any scores because the game was too enjoyable and played in such a great spirit that the score taking slipped everyones mind. However if the progression seen from last season to this is anything to go by then a few wins are on the horizon without a doubt.
