Melbourne Minxes U13 enjoy cup success

On Sunday the 27th of September Mansfield and Boston from NLD under 13's came to Chellaston Academy for a festival.

Match 1
The first match the minxes played was against Mansfield. To start off with the novice players were nervous as they hadn't played many matches against girls of different ages. However the the new players got the hang of the game with Skye Sloman scoring two tries. Unfortunately, in the end we lost to Mansfield 20-10.

Match 2
The 2nd match played Boston and although their players were much bigger than us we tried our best to keep our defensive line unbroken. The ball was recycled in rucks often by both teams with all players giving clearing out a but go especially Izzy Boyer. After our hard work we lost but our spirits were still high.

Match 3
Finally, we played a barbarians side that consisting of players from all the teams at the festival with Chloe and Izzy played their part by guesting for the opposing team. It was a rough game and both teams scored their fair share of tries but sadly, the match was abandoned after a player gained an injury. To be in the lead in the final match showed just how much experience is important for those players coming from the U10s into the U13s is.

Overall, the whole team tried their best. Lauren Rickett and Hallie Parker put in a lot of effort and made several breaks with the ball. Leah Mitchell stepped up into her role as vice captain following the lead of Lydia Wilkinson. Metres were made by Skye Sloman and Florence Comasky who were out on the wings. Working hard in the centre as always was by Izzy Boyer, Chloe Domjan and Yves Delaney who created a platform for the rest of the team to work from.
