Report by Tommy Howard
After a bonus point win last week at home, a new look Melbourne side headed south to Belgrave. With 6 changes in the pack alone (with Ed, Chris Wiliams, Chris Wiseall, Fossie and Morris all stepping in), Melbourne knew it was going to be a tough task facing the league leaders
On arrival Theo De Vies spotted two men casually walking past with shovels (as you do) who kindly assisted us in moving all the dog mess off the pitch. (Website editor has fond memories of playing at Belgrave 25 years ago - even then the pitch was known as dog s..t park.)
From there the warm up looked good and we took the pitch for the start of the game.
Euan Holden started play with an excellent drop kick deep into their 22. A few phases were put together, a few trys were scored...then the referee blew his whistle for full time.
Next week Melbourne face Stamford at home...I nominate TDV to do the match report as I think he may have dropped the ball at a potential turning point moment in the game. A bonus point of any sort should see Melbourne survive there first season in Midlands 2EN
Final score Belgrave 49 v 0 MRFC.
