Matt goes 2 up

Melbourne beat Lincoln in a scrappy game where neither really gained any continuity at all. Melbourne had 7 changes from the previous week and shows the strength of the squad.

So on to the rest of the league.

Matt and I agreed on home wins for Market Rasen, Newark and Matlock which all proved to be correct predictions.

Newark remain top after beating Ilkeston 21-12 but failed to gain a try bonus point though. A good showing from Ilkeston away from home.

Market Rasen beat previously unbeaten Loughborough 15-7 in a low scoring game.

Matlock beat Long Eaton 26-7 and gained a Try bonus point in the process. Long Eaton are still searching for their first win in the league after there promotion from M3EN.

We both thought Southwell would beat Ashby, but Ashby made it 2 in a row with a 30-22 win and a Try bonus point too. Ashby seem to be adapting well to the step up to M2EN and may be a surprise package this season.

The game we differed on was Ashbourne v Dronfield which ended in a very high scoring win for Ashbourne 42-37. Both sides got a Try bonus point and Dronfield also got a losing bonus point too.

On to the table where Newark sit top of the table 1 point clear. Newark, Melbourne and Market Rasen are unbeaten and 4 teams are still to win this season. Early days yet.

Week 4 preview on Friday.
