Pete draws first blood taking a 1-0 lead.

Too early to make any comments on the predictions for the table but there were still interesting scores and results to comment on.

The green&gold earned a highly contested win over a physical Dronfield - a result to be pleased with following previous encounters. Melbourne face Ilkeston in Round 2 in another stern test.

We both got the Loughborough game wrong with Loughborough edging it 25-24. 2 bonus points for Long Eaton though. A surprising result but both teams will be pleased with points gained.

Correct predictions for Newark who comfortably beat Ashby for a 5 point win. A convincing win that saw Newark take too spot after round one.

Market Rasen also beat Lincoln in a tight game which we both predicted. Both these sides will be tough opposition this season and home advantage will clearly count.

Matlock v Ilkeston ended in a low scoring draw so 2 points for each side.

The game we differed on saw Pete predict correctly. Again a tight game with Ashbourne edging it 20-14 though Southwell picked up a losing bonus point.

Week 2 preview on Friday.
