Welcome to the 2018/2019 season, a fresh challenge awaits Melbourne RFC as all squads adapt to new leagues and changes of opposition. It is an exciting time to be a part of the club with the appointment of Gary Rudkin as our senior head coach and Steve Rudd as the academy head coach.

Players and coaches are chomping at the bit and waiting to be released from the stalls - its nearly time!

Melbourne’s pre-season has been extremely positive with excellent integration of squads and improved training numbers for both the academy and second team. As a club we always have one eye on the future and we see our pathway for junior players flourishing under its current direction and support.

We welcome several new and returning faces to the Melbourne set-up across all senior teams, with exciting new debutants given their opportunity to shine tomorrow at Cockshut Lane.

Whilst we are perceived by some as a "small village club" we are far from that, big in spirit and ambition. We reach far and wide and we want to be the best we can be and we set our standards high across the board and that starts as of 3:00pm today for the Senior 1st XVIII.

Tomorrow we welcome Dronfield to Cockshut Lane, a fixture we have not seen for two years, and a stern test it will provide. Many good battles have been had between these sides and we are sure come 5pm another will have been added to the history books. Preparation has been good, attitude exemplary by players and coaches alike. Eighty minutes of intense, competitive rugby lie ahead - ahhh rugby how we have missed you.
